The Simple Habit Tracking Solution

Make your bed. Wash the dishes. Drink 8 glasses of water. Exercise. Floss. Post on Instagram. Write a blog post.

There is an endless number of things you might be trying to integrate into your daily life. But try to do more than a few at once, and you'll likely forget about most of them. Our brains can only retain so much information at once. And if you're stressed, forget it! Your brain is too taxed to remember more things.

So give yourself a break and write down what you want to work on in a simple way that gives you an easy visual reminder of your tasks.

Essentially, use a habit tracker!

BENEFITS

Why track your habits? The benefits are twofold.

First, it helps you remember to do what you've set out to do.

You could always tie a string on your finger, although that's less than specific, so you run the risk of forgetting what it is that you were supposed to remember.

You could write things down on sticky notes or in a planner, but if they're in several places, you might not remember to do them all.

By using an all-in-one tracker, you'll have a list of the habits you're aiming for in one place, meaning you only have to reference one list to find them all!

Second, it helps you stay consistent.

If you're just going your merry way, trying to workout every day or drink more water or write for thirty minutes, you're likely to forget some days. Come the end of the month, you won't know how well you stuck to your plan.

If you track your progress, you can see how many days you've stuck to your goals, and each day you check the box, you're motivated to keep going and not break your streak!

PROCESS

The process is simple.

You write down the habits you want to track in the column on the left first. These could be anything from getting up at a specific time to practicing your affirmations to going for a run to reading before bed. Whatever habits you're trying to implement more regularly into your life go on the list.

Then you simply check the box for each habit when you complete it on any given day (or check all the appropriate boxes at the end of the day).

At the end of the month, you can look back and see which habits you successfully integrated into your life over the course of the month. You'll also be able to see which ones you struggled to follow through with consistently.

As you continue tracking your habits, you'll be able to see what types of things work for you and what types of things don't. Perhaps it doesn't work for you to get up half an hour earlier, but you could get more done if you allowed yourself to stay up half an hour later. Or maybe running just isn't your thing, but yoga or strength training is.

You have the freedom to play around with your choices and see what works for you! The key is to be consistent!

I hope you find this habit tracker to be helpful, and if you're looking for more ways to track all the things in your life and business so you can be more organized and less frazzled, check out my Organize It All! Planner Pages!
