May 2017 Favorites

I thought it would be fun if I took a moment each month to let you know what things are currently striking my fancy, so here goes the May installment! [This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase items through my link, I will receive a small commission.]

Current favorites:

Book: I just added a bunch of books to my to-read list, and I snagged some fantastic Kindle deals on books I can't wait to crack open, but this month I've been reading some of Madeleine L'Engle's Austin Family series-- specifically The Moon at Night, The Twenty-Four Days Before ChristmasThe Young Unicorns, and A Ring of Endless Light. The stories are all very sweet, the characters lifelike and likable, and reading them makes me feel like a kid again, even though I don't think I actually read them as a kid.

Quote: "Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another, 'What? You too? I thought I was the only one.'" -C.S. Lewis.

TV Show: I'm still working my way through One Tree Hill, and loving nearly every minute of it. I resisted initially when I saw it on the SOAP Network in college, thinking it didn't belong there, but maybe it does... Regardless, it will always hold a piece of my heart.

Song: "Hard Love" by Needtobreathe. If you know me in real life, you probably know that I love Needtobreathe. Their latest album is different from some of their previous material, but it's so good! It's catchy, upbeat, and I like what the song has to say about "hard love."

Food: Does Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter count? That stuff is amazing! Like Nutella, but better. I've been making some new recipes, too, of course, but nothing has really stood out as being too spectacular. I did go out to Nelson's ice cream shop in Stillwater, MN with some friends over Memorial Day weekend, and I got the biggest cup of ice cream I've ever seen! It took me two days to eat it, but it was really good!

Memory from this month: So many great things happened this month! My book launched!!! That was a huge accomplishment for me. I worked incredibly hard, pushed through some tough days and rough patches of the process, and still managed to finish. You can read more about it here.

I also spent Memorial Day weekend with some of my dearest friends-- former college roommates and some really wonderful women.

My cousin's baby turned one, and we celebrated her with an appropriately sweet birthday party, and my church moved to a new school! I helped out a little bit with both of those, and they went really well!

Looking forward to next month: Two of my friends are getting married in June, I'm going to a music festival with my family, and I'm continuing to work on planning a bachelorette party weekend for a dear friend with some other friends. I'm also working on some new creative endeavors (hopefully you'll hear more about those later!).
